I've been using the float switches by UltraLife for years, never had a
problem.
Their design is such that it rarely, if ever, requires maintenance. The
capacity is a whopping 10 amps ! More than enough for any pump. You can put
any size container just about anywhere you want, and have the power to pump
it.
I evaporate about 12 gallons a day with my current system set-up, these
float switches make it possible for me to leave my operation for extended
peiods. Should be able to find this for well under a 100 bucks. Oh yeah, it's
also reversible, so you can shut a pump off at a certain level, too.
