Hi Barrry,

The Turbofloter uses a Rio 2100 that is modified with a needle wheel. This
will cause 
the air from the venturi to be chopped up into micro bubbles. The Rio 800
is used to 
feed the aquarium water into the unit. You can also just feed the water
using a tee- 
off from your overflow if you are using a sump. Both ways will work. I used
the Turbofloter 
on my 90 without the additional pump in order to cut down on heat and it
worked just fine.
Not a bad skimmer and simple to set up.I would not use it on a larger system.
