I use distilled water at the moment. I have my tank set up in my high school
science lab. There is a distillation unit there so I have been using this
since my tank has been set up. I cant see any sort of problems coming from
using it. I have heard that some stills have copper plumbing, this is only an
issue if the product pipe is copper but i believe it is usually stainless
steel. The good thing i can see about them is that membranes dont have to be
replaced, the only thing that needs to be done is cleaning it out
occasionally to remove mineral deposits. The bad thing is their initial cost.
They are rather exspensive, they also need to be connected seperately with a
feed line and a drain/waste line. Other then that i have had no problems
using the distiller. Once i move home though i'll switch to RO/DI water.
Maybe once i start using the RO water i might have a different opinion but as
far as i can see my tank is healthy and all my corals are growing.
