Reefkeepers:
My question is in regards to adding chemicals to my reef tank. I've got a
90 gallon reef tank with a prefilter unit draining the water into a sump.
Inside the sump there's a protein skimmer running. I've been told when
adding chemicals to the tank, add them to the sump. My only concern when
adding the chemicals to the sump is the protein skimmer's waste cup collects
a good amount of the chemicals. The chemicals that I use are Seachem's Reef
Plus, Seachem's Reef Complete, and Lugol's Iodine. Should I continue to add
the chemicals to the sump with the skimmer on, or should I turn off the
skimmer for a few hours after adding the chemicals, or can I add the
chemicals directly to the tank?
Thank you
Barry
