I agree Premiumaquatics is an excellent vender for reef supplies and live rock. Its hard to explain. Here it goes. When they collect the rock the have special tanks filled with water and circulation to try to keep as much of the living things on the rock alive. When they ship the rock to you they wrap the rock with wet newspaper in a stirofoam box.Amount of Die off depends on how much living things are on and in the live rock.Jhnmfftt is correct. You can buy rock that is cured or uncured. The uncured is pretty much straight from the ocean to you and the cured rock is cycled in the venders tanks for about 2-4 weeks .That means the vender cycles the rock to cure what died off from transporting the rock from the ocean to the vender.Everyone has different opinions on getting rock cured or uncured. This is just my opinion. If you are adding rock to an existing tank with anything live in it always buy cured liverock. If you are setting up a brand new system with no living things in the tank like fish I would buy rock straight from the ocean if possible. But beware that this stuff will smell pretty bad in your tank and will need numerous water changes for at least two weeks.Even if the rock is cured you still will have some dieoff. The less time the rock is out of the water the better.I'm lucky I have four LFS in my area that sells good quality live rock from many different spots in the ocean.I would always pick-up my live orders straight from the local airport if I was ordering from out of state venders. The vender would ship the live order as late in the day as possible and you would recieve it as early as possible the next day. That is the shipping I would use.It depends what the vender offers. Its hard deciding on where to buy your rock.Thats why I bought local so I could see what I was buying.Check out www.premiumaquatics.com   's website give them a call and ask questions about there rock.Take your time in choosing your live rock. The better your rock is the more stable your system will be.If you need other websites to choose from just let me know.I have a list of them.Ken.

Thanks...now you have me thinking:

Is there much more die off between 2 day delivery vs overnight standard vs
overnight priority?

Thanks,

Brad
