I agree with you all as well. I think a tank can be overskimmed. Of course,
it also depends on bio-load and feedings etc. I try to run my skimmer so
that it pulls out only dark gunk (which is how I was taught they should run)
and I run it 24-7. Sometimes it freaks out and dumps a bunch of water in the
cup, but for the most part, it only pulls small amounts of dark gunk out
thoughout the week. I do also use Iodine. I have noticed that when carbon is
used, or caluerpa is used in a refugium that the skimmer pulls significantly
less gunk.

Okay, so here is a question..... if you can overskim, then why do we (even
those of us skimming our tanks to death) still get algae or have problems
with nuisance algaes?
