Night time calm

Does anyone have pumps on timers? I replaced the pump in my sump and moved the old pump to the tank. The pump is plugged in with the main lights so it comes on and off with them. It has only been a week and I have noticed that all of my gorgonians are fully opened now. Prior to this they were mostly closed.   Comments?
