When People here are talking about "mags" is that short for magnum? I didn't think magnums were submersible. I have a big magnum 350 running my skimmer (Ron's saltwater heaven - which does a great job), but it's sure not submersible. Help me out (yet again).

I have used rio's before because they were pretty inexpensive.  This was before I was on this list.  In all I have used 4 rio 2500, 2 rio rio 2100, and 4 rio 180,  All but 1 ended up leaking into the motor and ended up burning out.  In that same time frame I have had a mag 350 that has run perfectly for me for about 6 years now.  Stay away from the rio.  I really like the mag pumps for a submersible pump.  I use 2 mag 7's for my main tank and the mag 350 pumps into my refugium.

Subject: RIO Powerhead

I am planning to buy a RIO powerhead to use it as return pump. I know a lot of stories involved about the quality of them and how a lot of people had problems with them.
What can you tell me about them? any comment? experiences?
TIA !!
