I would add some stromus snails and perhaps a queen conch.  These both feed heavily on cyanobacteria.  The strombus will breed until they wipe out the algae.  Adding chemicals to stop the algae is not a good idea, it will retrun after the meds wear off.

I too am fighting slime algae right now.  I can't figure out where it came from either.  RO water has been used since day 1.  Nitrates are below 10 and phosphates are 0.  I have cut back on feeding.  The tank is a 180 with about 300 lbs. of live rock.  Skimmer works great.  Could it have something to do with having new metal halide bulbs and they aren't 100% burned in.  The bulbs have been in use since September 15th.  They are on for approximately 8 hours a day.  One is a 400W 10k German bulb and the other 2 are 250W 10k CSL bulbs.  Fish load is minimum.  Phosphate remover is used and chemipure is used.  I am completely baffled.   Any clues or ideas?

Thanks

Keith
