It sounds like it could be anthalia. That is a species that looks much like
xenia, but is much more "feathery" in appearance. It does not pulse like
xenia, and what you see is it probably closing to ingest food. These are not
as hardy as xenia, but if they get a good hold in your tank, will do well.
Give them a medium flow and good light.
