I tried that initially since the $(function()... is supposed to be a
short-hand for $(document).ready... but saw the same results.
The more I think about it the more I think there is something "special"
going on when the page is being sent to the browser.

So I'm wondering if any of you all have seen this before, and know of a

flash elements of the page may be interacting with things a little

interested.
