I just reread your original post.  Did you actually experience the "."
not matching line feeds?  Because, you know, it should.  :-\

Also:  Are you doing this in CF5?  MX?  Studio?  DW?  From what you're 
asking to do, it seems this could be server-side or with a coding tool, 
so I need to know what regex engine we're dealing with.
