Hi Francisco,
Let’s do it, there’s certainly interest on my side to get both done. great. Maarten can you guide us on what would be needed? not sure. maybe we should ask for some time during next regext meeting and check if there is enough WG support for continuing this work and possibly adopting the existing draft documents, as a starting point for updating and consolidating the multiple IDN documents? This may also naturally follow from the EPP extension recommendations from the RPP Tiger team, having solid EPP IDN RFCs will also help our work for RPP. I was not part of any of the IDN work in the past but i’m happy to contribute where possible. - I’m OOO for the next 3 weeks and will not reply to my email. Best, Maarten Thank you On 15 Aug 2025, at 11:50, Gould, James wrote: We posted the IDN Table Mapping draft (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-gould-idn-table) that provided the ability to: 1. Validate the IDN Domain Name meets the server IDN policy 2. Get IDN tables matching the IDN domain name along with meta-data 3. Cache IDN table code points, where the client can query for a complete list of IDN tables and the IDN table meta-data from the server to support pre-validation. 4. Get the IDN Table Identifier to pass with the domain create command via the idnmap extension if required. If there is interest in standardizing the idnmap, the idn-table draft should go along with it. These are independent to the support for IDN variant relationship management via the Related Domain, Strict Bundling, and Domain Variant extensions. Hi Maarten, James Gould and I had a discussion a while back to add some mechanism to automatically return the IDN tables that matched on a domain check, then we went on our lives and we never completed this. We have a good idea of what that would take, and if there is interest in doing this we can update the draft to add this functionality. Otherwise we could also go and submitted as is.
