Description:
------------
Maginot is a for users free of charge TCP/IP server system including
clients dedicated to play the board game of diplomacy and variants on the
internet. It is developed in the concurrent functional language Erlang which
is an excellent tool for this type of servers.
There are 2 protocols and 2 clients for humans are supported 1) the Daide
Mapper (on windows) and 2) MDC a java applet client, that can be run on any
OS. Also AIs (bots) can connect to Maginot to take part in games formed for
humans. The developement of the AIs are done by developers in another related
project.
The Maginot project has now reached the point where it badly needs to go open
source under a GPL licence in order to attract more developers to take part in
the development. There is a long list of wanted new features and to implement
this in a reasonable timeframe we need more development resources. The
ambition is to make the best free open source diplomacy server on the
planet.
The code you find as is on: http://maginot.diplomacy.se/src/
Please come back to me if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Peter Lund
Other Software Required:
------------------------
Maginot needs Erlang. Erlang needs a virtual machine that can be run on
just any operating system everything from Sun Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD (as my
server does), any other *NIX variant, MacOS and Windows. See
http://www.erlang.org for more info.
