Description:

Blosxom (http://www.blosxom.com) is an established and elegant blogging
system written by Rael Dornfest. Unfortunately, Dornfest ceased development
after 2.0, but he has turned Blosxom over to its community of users. The
community has rallied, and, already through Sourceforge
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/blosxom/), released 2.0.1.
Although the official Blosxom (http://www.blosxom.com) website operated by
Dornfest is no longer updated and becoming sorely out-of-date, the community
has also rallied in that aspect. There is a regularly updated Unofficial
Blosxom User Group (http://blosxom.ookee.com/blog/) and an active mailing
list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blosxom/).
Although Blosxom does have an active community, continued development is
somewhat haphazard and without direction--especially in regard to plugins.
There are some great Blosxom plugins out there but finding them is difficult.
One user might release a plugin, which is modified by another user, which is
modified again by yet another user. Version schemes change, source code links
end in 404 errors...
Development of the Blosxom core continues on Sourceforge, but I propose a
Gna! project for Blosxom plugins. Plugins that are widely used by the
community would be added to a subversion repository allowing the Open Source
community to develop them. Regular releases with a consistent version scheme
would be released.
