==== Description: ====
The WebContent project is a research project funded by the French National
Research Agency aimed at providing all the tools necessary to efficiently and
quickly produce watch applications.

Based on open standards and a free software backend, the WebContent platform
provides tools, tutorials and a library of Web Services that allow to quickly
build watch applications applicable on all these domains and a lot more.

WebContent uses a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA): accompanied by domain
experts the application builder will use an ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) and
a services orchestrator to chain WebContent services. These services respect
a standard API defined by the platform. They can be Free Software components
or proprietary tools. Independently of their licence, they can be available
from source, freely available online or accessible through a paying
subscription.

The project has defined a large set of services, going from Web crawling to
Ontology building and advanced data presentation. The definition of these
services is freely available through a Free Software licence and
implementations are available. They are actually used in four watch
applications built by partners.

The data model, services specification and Java oriented tools are currently
developed in another site under a BSD licence. The Gna project will be used
to host these tools in the future but currently, it will host the C++
framework allowing to develop WebContent services. This framework defines
generic wrapper libraries to handle config files, xml parsing, thread
handling, rdf manipulation, SOAP services, etc. It gives also implementations
based on various Free Software (tinyxml, pthread, redland, gsoap,...) for each
of theses libraries. Finaly, it contains example services implementations and
tutorials to use all these tools. This C++ framework is licenced under the
Gnu LGPL V3.
