==== Description: ====
MATIS (MATerial analysIS) is a set of routine to treat data generated by
mechanical tests of materials. It is bound to be command line driven and
extensible to support all possible kind of test and output format one can
imagine.
It will serve the basis for all the analysis done at Ecole des Mines de
Paris. Students will be require to extend the code for their own tests,
getting therefore involved in the development of MATIS.
At the moment no real code tree exists, a few different python programs are
used in our university to analyze data sets. The first task will be to
regroup those into a common code tree with examples and unit tests.
==== Other Software Required: ====
a python runtime will be needed to run the program. optional dependencies for
charting will be either the python matplotlib library or the gnuplot program
(all free software).
==== Other Comments: ====
I've developped a similar program in the past hosted at gna and functional :
mtreader. The difference is mtreader was designed from the ground up to be
driven by the User Interface. In the future, mtreader might become a
graphical shell for MATIS.
While mtreader has been developped only by me, the development of MATIS will
be shared in several researchers and hopefully phD and master students in the
future.
