The aumix sources contain these notices.

I've revised my proposed description; it is below.

This program adjusts audio mixing hardware from X11, a terminal,
the command line or a script. It is for adjusting sound volume,
microphone levels, and the like. It uses the Open Sound System API
and works on OpenBSD, NetBSD, FreeBSD/PC-BSD, and Linux. On Linux,
use with the ALSA drivers requires OSS emulation; aumix will not
work on a pure ALSA system.

Full-screen terminal mode uses ncurses and is optional. Console
mouse support exists for Linux, FreeBSD and OpenBSD.

The optional X11 GUI uses the GTK+ library.

Aumix is licensed under the GNU GPL and can be downloaded through
<URL:http://jpj.net/~trevor/aumix.html> (its home page) or
<URL:http://sourceforge.net/projects/aumix/files/>.
