I'm having the same problem. I'm running Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I found out that if I select multiple tracks at the same time to try to modify its properties, it does nothing and shows the same error as above mentioned; but if I only select one track at a time, it still shows the error but saves the updated information in its properties.
