To recap: without any manually-specified model quirk, nothing works, and with the model=auto quirk, only stereo playback through internal speakers works?
That is correct ...... I also have no options appear in the sound menu for surround sound ...... on auto setting (quirk) ( but the options did show up when I added the line acer-aspire-7730g for surround sound etc ) ..... but no sounds played through the internal laptop speakers.
