It seems odd to add this to a bug report opened in 2004, before this version of the program, and this version of Ubuntu, even existed...
In Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, in openoffice.org-core 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1, the program /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin, Segmentation fault on startup, which means that all openoffice apps that rely upon this program also crash on startup, which seem to be all of them. It crashes about halfway through the splash screen. Re-installing various parts, and deleting ~/.openoffice, makes no difference.
