Two more comments: - there's is also a ppa repo for handbrake, but unfortunately without the GTK version and a bit dated https://launchpad.net/~handbrake-ubuntu/+archive/ppa - ogmrip is not a perfect substitute. It is OK for dealing with DVD sources, but it cannot handle simple multimedia files as inputs: one cannot use it to transcode a video file to another format/codec
