*Milano School of International Affairs, Management & Urban Policy at The New School seeks Part-time faculty to teach several courses in the upcoming academic year*:
*Policy Analysis in the Fall 2015 Semester*. This course is required for all urban policy students and also taken by by environmental policy students and others. This course emphasizes the development and application of analytic skills for informed decision making. Based largely on case discussions, the class explores decision-making in the public and nonprofit The course culminates in a team project. *Public Management in the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 Semesters.* This course provides an overview of the practical issues and skills needed to work effectively in the public sector largely through case studies. Students gain a broad overview of basic public management concepts, preparing them for higher-level work in areas such as budgeting, human resources, strategy development and application, contracting, and performance management through use of data. This course also emphasizes performance management, including selecting and using tools and metrics to assess and improve performance. *Political Economy of the City in the Spring 2016 Semester. This course *explores the forces that have made cities what they are today, looking at the tension between politics and economics, and the importance of the physical and spatial aspects of the city. Why have some continued to grow while others have declined? What are the common issues among them? This course takes US cities as a starting point while recognizing that we are all operating in an international context and that many of the critical issues facing cities today are global in nature—climate change, the privatization of public space, the Great Recession. Preference is for one or more seasoned teachers, researchers and/or practitioners, but ABD doctoral students will be considered.
