This is something we need to decide together. While maintaining SC and BC is
very important, I think we should allow some flexibility when it comes to
add-on modules.

What flexibility exactly do you mean?
* BC break?
* Workaround based on the assumption it is not a commonly used module?
* Something else?

Stopping 5.1 release now means quite big delay, and also likely delay to
upcoming releases.

Serial port is an add-on and thus we should have quite good flexibility to
change things in it.

I have not had access rights until now to change the priority. It is not
possible anymore?
What would be the nice fix in Qt 5.1.1?

Unfortunately this is too late for getting in Qt5.1.0, sorry. Packages are
already done and this issue isn't even P0 so it won't block the release. But
why not fix this in qt5.1.1?

Hi,
Would it be possible to include a change later today based on this one?

https://codereview.qt-project.org/#change,59817
It is either now, or Qt6, as far as I can tell, but if you have ideas how it
can be solved nicely later, that is also fine.
Cheers,
Laszlo
