To sing religious songs of another faith is troubling, and I would certainly allow dissenting students to opt out of required classroom singing of such songs.
But isn't it even more disturbing to be required to curse God, to recite blasphemous dialogue, as part of a required class exercise?
Whether it is more disturbing or not, I agree with Rick that the religious student in this case should have been excused from reciting the lines he found religiously offensive. My post distinguishing actors from choir singers was not intended to suggest otherwise.
