Ok. Some aspects of the freedom of religion are subtle and complicated. Compelling participation in the pledge of allegiance and retaliating for non-participation are not in that category. And yet, both a biology teacher and assistant principal harassed a student in Montgomery County, Maryland (a first-ring suburban county of Washington DC!). How can a teacher and an assistant principal in a school where they are requiring the students to say the pledge not know the law? It has been a clear, bright line for 70 years! http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/damascus-student-who-faced-harassment-wants-to-discuss-reform-with-officials/2013/05/22/f778712c-c2e1-11e2-8c3b-0b5e9247e8ca_story.html?wpisrc=nl_buzz
