Incidentally, I'm currently running version remind-3.1.3p0, but am
planning on migrating to another machine running 3.01.10 soon.

What version of Remind are you on? Older versions need you to specify
the dates like this:
REM 1 March 2014 *14 UNTIL 3 May 2014 MSG ...
