Just a little note to convey my appreciation for the subst_n() functions. Prior to converting over to using them, I had
$ git diff --shortstat HEAD~ 22 files changed, 122 insertions(+), 120 deletions(-) ~120 instances of [timespan()] across ~22 files that are all now just "%z" (I always want 4-digit years, so %z was a perfect candidate) Such a nice little improvement.
