It's handy because contacts are sync'd between my email program (claws-mail) and my smartphone. I use a web app called InfCloud to manage my contacts from the desktop, or else the normal contacts app on my smartphone. I wrote up my setup at https://dianne.skoll.ca/writings/de-googling-my-life/ Radicale stores contacts as vCards and there are plenty of tools and libraries for manipulating vCards. Regards, Dianne.
