Hello,

Just a quick note about an incident that happened to a friends 800 MHz
trunking system.

All of a sudden Monday morning all of his customers started calling saying
the trunk system was off the air, sure enough after a quick trip by a
technician it was off the air! Matter of fact it was GONE! All 5 channels
had disappeared over the weekend! He called me wanting to know if I had
seen anyone there, I obviously said no. I guess he continued to call around
till he found someone that had been at the tower, sure enough it was NEXTEL!
One of their technicians deconstructed the system!

It gets better! They had the "guts" to tell him, well we will get it back
by Tuesday around 1:30 PM! They have had someone else's equipment for three
days and it's going to take them another 24 plus hours to get it back! I
feel really sorry for him, he has several customers on this system and they
are hot!

In other words, if you have some 460, 800 or 900 MHz trunk systems on your
tower you better mark it in plain English or whatever the NEXTEL techs
understand because they don't understand English! These were marked in
plain English as to who they belonged to and they still deconstructed it!!
When it comes down to it they should not have been in the building, there is
none of their old equipment there!

I guess there is a silver lining to this cloud, I get to put it back
together for the owner, just wish I could in good conscience charge twice my
normal hourly rate, they are paying for the reconstruction!
