Before stringing RG-11 to extend your cable tv distribution system, you
might want to read the "fine print" in your cable tv contract. It might
state that all cable from the trunk coupler to the customer's tv set are
the property and responsibility of the cable service provider- unless
the demarcation point is defined otherwise.

A prior posting on this topic alleged that the FCC deleted the leakage
protection for Amateur Radio frequencies, but that is not quite
correct. The latest edition of Part 76 Rules contains the following
requirements in Paragraph 76.605(a)(12): "... signal leakage from a
cable television system shall be measured in accordance with the
procedures outlined in Paragraph 76.609(h) and shall be limited as
follows: Less than and including 54 MHz, and over 216 MHz, 15 uV/m at a
distance of 10m; and over 54 MHz up to and including 216 MHz, 20 uV/m at
a distance of 3m..." The second part includes the Amateur 2m band, and
the allowable leakage is very small.

If there is an ARRL Official Observer and/or an ARRL Technical
Coordinator in your area, a formal request for assistance should be
forwarded to either or both of them.
