One trick, since there are replacements available,
and you've decided that the old one is pretty shot....

30 years ago I used to "rejuvenate" B&W
television CRTs by upping the heater voltage
by running 8-9v on 6.3v heaters for a couple
of hours.

If you have a variac and a filament transformer
around of the correct voltage, why not try it?
If it's a 6v filament use a 12v or 24v transformer
and start the variac at zero and work up.

If you can milk the tube out of a few more
years of life, you've saved some money, if
not, well, you haven't lost anything but
some bench time, and that might even be
fun.
