Had the noisy problem in one of my repeaters, 3 to 5 ohms 4 watts resistor in series with positive line and a 1000mfd/16volts in the fan side cured 100%. I would go with the 120.  12volt fans have a bad habit of dirtying the DC voltage which can ocasionally be heard in the repeaters audio.
