Dave, I have a Sinclair 210 C4 here and it has 4 dipoles offset to 1/2 
wavelength.
They claim that the gain is 9 db to each side of the dipoles,  6 db gain 
straight out from
them
and 3 db on the back side....hope this makes sense to you.....
