Bob,

I wrap the radio in aluminum foil, leaving a hole for the S Meter indicator
volume knob.  Learned that one from Walt also.  Looks ugly but works well.
On this 800 foot tower RG-8 would not work.

Problem is RF will go through the case of the HT & overload it.

I had to do this once to find an interference source on a tower; used 100
ft. of RG8 to a pass cavity & good RX on the ground.  The tower climber
just carried a yagi up the tower.  Worked well.
