That is interesting!  Obviously, there is more than one model of the GR500.
The Service Manual I have for the GR400 and GR500 repeaters, 6880905Z54-O,
clearly describes and pictures the two repeater models as having one R1225
transceiver.  I have an RKR1225, which is the rackmount version of the
GR500, and includes instructions for transferring the components out of a
GR500 housing into the RKR housing.

In the introduction section of the GR400/GR500 manual, I quote:  "The
repeater housing allows space for the R1225 transceiver module..."  It is
beyond me why Motorola would put the same model number on two devices that
appear to be completely different!  Oh, well...
