If I ended up doing an external TT decoder, I'd probably use the Comm Spec
unit.

NHRC has a DTMF control board for $90
<http://www.nhrc.net/nhrc-remote-plus/>
however it controls 8 devices.

A similar device is described here:
<http://www.atv-projects.com/html/dtmf_control.html>

A garage door opener based design is here:
<http://www.electronic-circuits-diagrams.com/remotecontrolsimages/remotecontrolsckt5.shtml>

Ramsey has a 4-channel device for $40 here... but
I've never had good luck with Ramsey... every item
of theirs that I've built has been a little short on the
engineering.
