The 5K, 6K and 7K had one single-tone generator. The 7330 has three dual-tone generators, one for each port. >There were pagers that used 1+1, ones that used 5 quick tones, ones that used a longer first tone, then 5 quick tones, and some weird specialized pagers that used the 2+2 format (two simultaneous tones, then two more simultaneous tones). In aviation, that last one is known as ICAO SELCAL.
