IF you use the short 25G tower section (~ 4 feet) in the hole (this is one approved approach) -- make ABSOLUTELY sure that the bottom of the hole permit drainage of water (small sized gravel in bottom of hole) -- the hollow tower legs/tubes into the hole MUST permit drainage of water captured by tower inside tower legs/tubing.
In the Midwest, I have seen a towers that the metal legs EXPLODED (cracked) above the concrete pad due to ICE thaw and freeze -- each problem was found to be either plastic plugs (used in shipping) not removed and/or concrete plugging the bottom of the 3 tower legs/tubes. VERY EXPENSIVE to break-up and pull-out the mess and re-work (one was a comemrical tower, the other a residental) Greg w9gb
