I had a DB-224 that had been up for 20+ years and
found the same thing.  It was not upside down but one
of the coax center conductors had disentegrated inside
one of those moulded junctions.  I cut it open and
there was nothing left of the center conductor.

It is still in service with the top section of the
matching harnes replaced.
