I would goto http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/towairSearch.jsp and
run a TOWAIR study on the tower to see if you will pass the FAA slope test.

IF it passes, take a section off (most likely 20 feet) and be done with it.
Have it inspected by a reliable tower company (hard to find nowdays) and
have fun.
