The 851 used to be the "European" version but Kenwood changed the 
nomenclature. Except for one change in how the TX power levels are 
programmed, the 850 and 851 is the same radio/repeater.

Both will work just fine down to the high 430's.

Save yourself some money and get an 850 :-)
