All The problem is wind noise on the 147.240 duplexed repeater antenna. Tower has a ladder with a wire rope safety cable running top to bottom with a guide midway. After using the IFR to generate a noisy signal, a soft mallet was used to strike the antenna, tower legs, and finally the ladder. We found the metal guide for the wire rope is special device to allow a Jumar ascender to go past . Wrapping tape around the wire cable at the point of the guide fixed the wind noise problem temporally.
Question Is there a source of wire guides that do not have this problem and still pass safety requirements.? Gran K6RIF
