I've posted on the forum and I also wanted to post here post here.
Hello, I have a Galaxy S3 running Replicant and been using it without sim card for over a month now. I'm glad that there exists a mobile operating system that takes freedom seriously. Today, I got a new sim card and tried it on that phone only to find out that it didn't detect the card. I tried it on two feature phones, one of them detected the sim card but then said SIM CRASH, the other detected the sim card but says that I can only do emergency calls. I also tried it on someone else's fairly modern smartphone and it worked, but not on the other phones. I tried inserting my old sim card into my Galaxy S3 and it also didn't detect the card whereas one of the flipphone detected the card so I suppose that Galaxy S3's EFS partition got corrupted? Does the sim card only work on modern cellphones? I think I have more than one problems, one is that the sim card might only work on modern phone and the second is that the EFS partition got corrupted. When I first installed Replicant, I made an EFS backup and now I did the backup again and I compared those two backups and they happen to be different. I also compared the new and old nv_data.bin and they are the same. The sim card is from swedish telephony operator called Hallon. I've read their website and they said that the sim card will not work on devices without 3G/4G support. Galaxy S3 has 3G support? Is there anything what I can do to fix this problem? _______________________________________________ Replicant mailing list [email protected] https://lists.osuosl.org/mailman/listinfo/replicant
