I'm adding some more info.
I found the problem described above does not happen with everyone I
speak on the phone, I found I can talk to a specific friend of mine and
clearly listen to their voice, no distorted robotic sound as with the
rest of the phone calls.
Any suggestion on how to troubleshoot is welcome.
