Well, then we partition it off by year or whatever size unit it works at? It is also possible improvements in the underlying filesystem and disk technologies over the years make it more viable now than in the past? I definitely don't have more than a few months using this method at this time, so sure, it could all come screetching to a halt at some point... I can continue to backfill from snapshot.debian.org until it breaks, I suppose. :) live well, vagrant
