Seven years related computer experience Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Intermediate level Windows and Unix server administration. Experience with VMware VI3 and Citrix XenApp preferred. A working knowledge of Sun Solaris, HPUX and IBM AIX desired; Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities The successful candidate will be willing to support all IT functions, from the mundane to the highly technical. This position requires high level of maturity and responsibility. Will be asked to take initiative, work with minimal supervision, and see projects through to completion in timely fashion. Responsibilities: Provide technical support on IT systems and operations. Includes device installation, steady state maintenance, troubleshooting and remediation activities. Monitor infrastructure performance statistics and make recommendations to remediate issues. Analyze results of system monitoring and capacity planning. Make recommendations for changes to improve processing and utilization. Provide technical support to other A.H. Belo IT teams. Understand existing technologies in use within A.H. Belo Advise on organizational, procedural and workflow methods in an effort to enhance efficiency. Support information technology infrastructure in a heterogeneous computing environment. Information technology infrastructure includes servers from various vendors, SAN arrays and switches, and multiple operating systems. The primary emphasis will be on implementation, maintenance and support of test and development systems.
