Description: 


The Senior Web Infrastructure Architect is a contract position with the SF 
based AP Technology lab and will require extensive expertise designing and 
deploying robust web infrastructure leveraging the latest hardware, network and 
virtualization technologies to host Microsoft based software applications.     

 

The ideal candidate will:

 

Ø       Knowledge of the Industry options and current working experience with:

·         Distributing customer traffic across multiple data centers and tiers 
of system

·         Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, Sun, Grid, Cloud, Clustering, 
Hyper-V, etc.)

·         Design solutions to meet the required OLA(s), SLA(s), RTO, and RPO 
for the platform at hand

·         Fault-Tolerant and H/A system for the available budget and project 
requirements

·         Database replication options, backup options, and recovery options

·         Options for the OS, Web Server, Application Server, Database server

·         Development Tools (Team City, Team Foundation Server, Test 
Automation,  and Source Control)

Ø       Analyze business and technical requirements to determine system design, 
potential issues, and cost.

Ø       Contribute significantly to feature prioritization and systems 
architecture.

Ø       Develop implementation strategies that preserve the availability, 
performance, integrity, stability, and scalability of platform systems and 
designs within cost constraints. 

Ø       Produce system infrastructure architecture designs to handoff to other 
operations departments for successful systems engineering and implementation.

Ø       Interact with internal and external technical leaders to develop 
innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to availability, 
functionality, performance, reliability, repeatability, and scalability. 

Ø       Contribute to the selection, prototype, and implementation of 3rd party 
software (e.g. application server software), hardware, network devices, and 
technical solutions.

Ø       Analyze and communicate the current and future capacity of platform 
systems.

Ø       Define test cases, review results, and the output of Performance Testing

Ø       Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship skills, especially 
the ability to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. process scheduling, 
disk and file system I/O, layered software designs and implementations, kernel 
internals, TCP/IP communications) at all levels.

Ø       Create and communicate the total cost of ownership for the 
project/platform requirements.

Ø       Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

 

Desired Skills:

 

Prior consulting experience.

Current with the latest and upcoming Virtualization options

 

A leading candidate would have experience in the following solution domains:

 

Enterprise Content Management (taxonomy, classification, normalization, 
workflow, versioning, etc).
