Title: Technical Program Manager Location: NYC, NY Length: 12-18 Months+ Company Program: amongst top three programs in Thomson Reuters Markets creating the next generation desktop product suite sitting on a common technical platform. Project:– responsible for managing the overall delivery of the new Alerting capability & infrastructure, content ingestion, and infrastructure deployment for program. Program requirements spans multiple divisions and program is already in flight.
Required Experience: Ø 10-12 years project management experience with at least 3 years of Program Management experience. Ø Senior person in career project/program management profession with experience leading large technical programs delivering new global capabilities/infrastructure. Ø Experience with Content ingestion or search is helpful. Required Education and/or Certifications: Ø College degree required Ø PMI certification strongly suggested. Type of Work and Required Skills: Ø Very experienced Technical Program Manager with ability to manage large complex global program with multiple stakeholders located in two of Thomson Reuters divisions. Ø Excellent ability to work with a mature onshore and offshore development and QA team that is charged with delivering a brand new infrastructure and global deployment. Ø Position requires superior planning and vetting skills with the ability to manage a large amount of inbound and outbound dependencies. Ø Strong ability to affect change JOB POSTING TEMPLATE There is an opening for a Program Manager within the Investment and Advisory Division to manage the delivery of a program of complex projects to support the delivery of Alerts for Common Platform 1.5. The role will be responsible for incremental delivery of capabilities as part of a major multiple-year company programme. The successful candidate will be an experienced and capable Technical Program Manager with a proven track record of delivery of complex technical initiatives from initiation through to deployment using standard project process as appropriate. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivery of software and content projects to agreed quality, time and budget specifications from initiation through to deployment. The successful candidate will have a proven history of managing global cross-functional project teams, managing multiple dependencies distributed across many teams and have very strong communications and relationship-building skills. Job Description – Duties and Responsibilities Ø Define, document and execute several large-scale global projects, actively participating in all phases of the project. Ø Set up and drive the core delivery team to ensure clear roles and accountability for each deliverable and dependency. Ensure all groups are aware of project scope, their responsibility for delivering projects and milestones. Ensure the right resources are available at the right time with the right skills. Ø Actively engage with multiple business segments, product managers, development, quality, content sourcing teams, application support and operations groups to ensure synchronization and awareness of all plans. Ø Create and manage detailed project plans and schedules. Responsible for ensuring end to end project plans are tightly coupled and deliverables aligned. Track progress and actively manage any potential roadblocks or delays to ensure timely and quality delivery of committed plans. Ø Monitor and report status from each deliverable group to all relevant parties. Highlight divergence from scope and adjust where necessary. Gain commitments to ensure corrective actions are taken if costs, timescales or resources deviate from agreed tolerances. Ø Participate in project estimations when requested to provide costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project to be estimated. Ø Establish project milestones that reflect realization of agreed business benefits within timeframe and budget. Ø Identify and track milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, changes and dependencies within the schedule. Ø Responsible for project risk management. Identify, assess, manage and mitigate project risks to successful project completion. Ø Responsible for project change control. Ensure the appropriate solution or budget is presented so that projected business benefits are realised. Ensure revisions to the project are agreed with stakeholders and full impact of changes is understood by stakeholders. Ø Facilitate a clear communication channel between all internal and external teams involved in delivery. Work with stakeholders to ensure successful completion of all project deliverables. Ø Ensure compliance with Thomson Reuters Project Process and the needs of the I&A Product PMO. Maintain project library including all key project documentation. Ø Contribute to the ongoing development of project process, tools and techniques such that they develop in line with company organisational, technical and commercial requirements. Ø Working remotely or extended office hours may be required to meet the global team’s needs. Ø Perform other assignments as requested by manager. Ø Domestic/Int’l travel may be required. Job Specification - Experience and Knowledge: Ø A minimum of 10-12 plus years project management experience (4+ years program management experience) or an equivalent combination of program/project management experience, business experience and education in the financial services business. Ø Experience managing geographically distributed and multi-disciplinary project teams including third parties required. Ø Experience managing onshore and offshore software development projects with extensive communication, risk management, extensive project reporting and project management tools experience required. Ø Experience creating complete detailed plans for complex projects. Ø Ability to track progress and actively manage end to end project plan. Ø Strong network with business, product, content, operations & technology groups. Ø Bachelors Degree required. Ø PMP Certification strongly suggested.
