The Sr. System/ Linux Engineer is a full time role based in Calabasas CA. The
individual in this role will be required to participate in on-call for system
support in conjunction with multiple 24/7/365 systems. System Engineers are
part of a multi-disciplinary system operations team. They are responsible for
designing, implementing, and maintaining both internal and client-facing
systems of varying complexity. A successful System Engineer must be able to
analyze requirements and recommend innovative solutions, maintain production
systems, work with others to resolve technical problems, and contribute to the
development of new systems or major system enhancements.
Responsibilities

- Includes, but not limited to, planning, systems analysis, design,
scripting, and documentation.
- Analyzing existing systems to recommend changes/improvements to them to
maximize user capabilities.
- Meeting assigned project deadlines and work schedules. Timely and
accurate completion of special projects and assignments.
- Understanding, supporting, enforcing and complying with company
policies, procedures and standards of business ethics and conduct.
- Effective and consistent cooperation and communication with Team
Leadership and key company personnel.
- Setup, configuration, general maintenance and troubleshooting of all
Unix and Linux systems.
- Administration of server, network and storage hardware.
- Assisting DBAs, Developers and QA users, with application operation,
performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more systems such as
Monitoring, Configuration Management, Load Balancing, Network and Application
Security, Storage Management, Infrastructure Automation, Application/Language
Support, and/or Site Migrations.
- Respond to service outages.
- Manage internal systems such as Mail and DNS.
- Performance tuning of applications such as Apache, Tomcat, lighttpd,
nginx, and varnish.
Requirements
" Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or
equivalent work experience.
" Strong analytical and system design skills.
" Significant experience with Linux, and Windows operating systems.
" Strong scripting experience (shell, PHP, Perl, etc...).
" Experience with highly available, multi-node linux environments
or server farms.
" Experience with at least two UNIX/Linux distributions, eg, RedHat
(incl. CentOS, Fedora), Debian (incl. Ubuntu), FreeBSD, OpenBSD Solaris, etc..
" Knowledge of managing and configuring RAID systems, including
SAN/NAS appliances.
" Ability to lift and install Server, Storage, and Network Hardware.
" Advanced Knowledge of at least one virtualization stack, eg,
VMWare, Xen, Eucalyptus, AWS, OpenStack, KVM, etc..
" Working knowledge of at least one RDBMS, eg Oracle, MySQL,
Postgres, etc..
" Strong understanding of security best practices and forensic
techniques, eg, tcpdump, wireshark, iptables, ipset.
" Advanced Knowledge of Scripting in at least one language other
than BASH, eg Ruby, Python, Perl, PHP, TCL.
" Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong written
and verbal communications skills
" Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively
prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
" Strong organizational skills.

Job: Websphere Commerce Administrator
Location: NYC

The WebSphere Commerce Administrator is responsible for the operation of the
Unix/Linux based IBM WebSphere/WebSphere Commerce/JBOSS environment as well as
the relationship with vendors and users who provide input and support this
environment. The role ensures the day-to-day operations of the environment
architecture and operation for the eCommerce websites, eBooks services, manage
technical administration including installation, configuration, administration,
monitoring, capacity planning, operational services and integration of
enhancements and development efforts that pertain to the environment.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform functions and tasks associated with the design,
development, and operation of WebSphere Commerce Server systems environment.
Expert support of WebSphere Commerce Server in a Unix/Linux (IBM
AIX/Red Hat Linux) computing environment.
Support of RedHat JBOSS in a RedHat Linux computing environment.
UNIX/Linux admin background desirable including OS and
application software installations and upgrades, backup and recovery
administration, and troubleshooting system and application issues.
Architect, research and make recommendations for WebSphere
Commerce Server configurations.
Experience with LDAP highly desirable.
Provide technical input to assist in development of project
planning.
Provide support and develop Shell scripting (perl, ksh, bash)
system administration utilities
Work with a team of other administrators, including system
administrators, database administrators, network administrators and fellow
middleware administrators.
Work with the PMO to help draft and execute eCommerce-related
invest and enhancement projects.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
3 years' experience managing WebSphere Commerce Server (WCS) on
AIX or Linux in a production eCommerce retail environment. AIX preferred. DB2
UDB back-end database configuration support preferred.
5 years' experience managing WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
on AIX or Linux in a production data center environment. AIX preferred.
3 years' experience managing RedHat JBOSS in a production data
center environment highly desirable.
7 years' experience on AIX or similar UNIX. Linux experience
highly desirable as well.
Strong experience with security administration, server
performance monitoring and tuning.
Strong experience with configuring middleware systems (WAS,
JBOSS) in a highly available and resilient configuration.
Demonstrable knowledge of UNIX operating system basics (disk,
cpu, io subsystems)
Demonstrable knowledge of IBM hardware, specifically pSeries,
xSeries and BladeCenters desirable.
Experience with Sun Java Directory Server > v5.3 or RedHat
Directory Server desirable.
Unix Shell scripting experience is a must (bash, ksh, or perl)
Strong troubleshooting skills
Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people
Must be able to work some overtime and provide after-hours
support as needed.
